Feb 2 & Feb 3

Hello Everyone,
After a great weekend of racing it's time to get back to training.
We are expecting some snow over the weekend and my hope is that it will not impede upon our training plan too much.
We will train GS on Saturday and the Plan is to Train Super G on Sunday.

However,  if it snows so much that Super G will be dangerous I will be changing that plan to standard GS.  Even though only the U12's will race Super G at Crystal Mountain we all will be training it to learn the skills of speed.

Also During the next two days if you could have your kids watch the attached video that would be awesome.  It is a great description of fall line and rise line as to help your athletes understand how they have the ability to change their line.  These are terms that they will hear and having a good understanding of what they mean can really benefit them.

See you all in a few days.

Mission Ridge Apple Cup

Hello Everyone,
I hope everyone is  excited for our race this weekend. The race announcement is available in the side bar to the right for everyone. It is the best source of info and I suggest printing it so that you have it in case of questions.

Because everyone is staying in different places we will not have a team meeting at night, but instead have a plan for where to have your athletes meet us each day.  Sometimes we have to alter our plan.  If so, I will be communicating changes by text message.

Race Day's can be a little hectic in the morning so plan to give yourself a little extra time in the morning so it doesn't feel rushed for your athlete.

The coaches will pick up our Teams Bibs and we will distribute them at the start.

Our Teams Plan for each day  is, as follows....
Meet the coaches at 8:05 at the bottom of Chair 4, It is the 2 man lift that starts at the base.
We will load the lifts at 8:15 so that we can get a really good inspection.
Inspection is from 8:30- 9:15
1st Run Start is at 9:30

Once I have the rest of the schedule, I will text it to all of you so that you will have the most current  info from the coaches meeting in the morning.

Please make sure that you have a plan with your child so that after their race runs they know where they can find you, the finish is always a good option.  For second run please help get your athlete to the start for 2nd run inspection.  Skiing at a new mountain can be a little over whelming for young racers and we rely on parents to help get your kids to where they need to be.

I will have a large clothing bag at the start to help transport athletes clothing to the base. If there is a parent that would be willing to help cycle the bag around that would be awesome, you can check in with the coaches at the start.

If you have any questions or need anything please do not hesitate to call me 307-760-4168.

See you Saturday Morning

Training
SAT Jan 19- SL
SUN 20- GS

TUNING CLINIC
Saturday After training at 3:15 in the Tallas Room we will have a tuning clinic.
This will be a demo  type of clinic so no need to bring your skis.
We will try to keep it to 45 minutes or so.
We will be going over the following
Base Prep
Sharpening Edges
Waxing
Scraping and
Brushing.
I hope all of you to attend.  It is always good to have an idea of what it takes to get a good race tune and
this is a great opportunity to ask questions.

Get Your Athlete involved in the process even if they just learn to scrape and brush for starters.

Race Update
The Deadline for the Mission Ridge GS's is this Friday Jan 18, Make sure to get your entry in.
This race will be a ton of fun and a great opportunity to put our skills to the test.
The online entry and liability waiver are pretty straight forward.
Notes on Lift Tickets:
I want to make sure all of you are aware that there will be a racer ticket of $45 ages 10 and $10 fro younger
They do not do the exchange for athlete passes because these passes are not purchased but given as a part of your
Race club membership.
Adult Season Passes do carry the bonus of  the exchange tickets with Mission Ridge,
but you have to present your pass

Crystal Mountain Cherry Tree Charge Registration is open
I encourage all athletes to attend this race, it is part of our  mini race series for the U12's and under.
By our team traveling and supporting their race,  in turn Crystal Mountain will support our races both the
Championships  and the Batam Cup.

Lodging in a little tough but many people stay down in Enum Claw and it works out just fine.

Training January 12 and 13

Training last weekend went really well and I think that everyone made improvements to their skiing.  We did a lot of drills and worked to take those skills into our training courses.
As we discussed this upcoming weekend we will be training
GS on Saturday and SL on Sunday, so come prepared.

I also wanted to let everyone know that we are working to set up a few links to some drills on the lower right side of this blog ( I am having technical difficulties at the moment but I hope to have them up by the end of the week).  These will be some of the drills that we have been working on or will be working on.  I encourage all athletes to take a minute and watch them. Seeing other athletes that are the best in the world doing drills can be very motivating and help young athletes to find purpose in dedicating time to doing drills.

AWAY RACES Information

Hello Everyone,
As we discussed at our Parent Meeting Last Saturday there will be 3 Away race and 2 Home Races.
The Race Schedule is in the side bar of this blog with attachments for information on all that are available so far.
Just for Everyone's information, in the race world we call this a  "FACT Sheet" so when you hear that term you will know that is where all the information for that race is included.  It usually contains information about the race, where a good option for lodging might be, the cost of the race, the cost of lift tickets,  where Race Head quarters will be located the day of the race.  Also contained on most fact sheets will be a link to their registration details for the event and there is usually a liability waiver that will need to be signed out and sent back to them.

With this being said, both Mission Ridge Apple Cup and Crystal Mountains Cherry Tree Charge have their registration open and if you are planning to attend, now is a good time to sign up.

ALSO A Note on HELMETS required for racing.
At least 2 of the mountains will require a Hard Sided Helmet so please make sure your athlete has one.

Holiday Break and Christmas Camp

Winter Break Schedule

The pre-Christmas training block will begin this Friday 12/21 at 8:45! Meet above the Ski Racks in front of the lodge.  We are always at the mercy of mother Nature as to what kind of training we will be doing so be prepared for anything.  We will be starting into our fundamental drills this weekend.  I know many of you have only 1 pair of skis and that is great, but if you are choosing between SL and GS skis we will be starting on SL skis and moving to GS after Christmas.  Also because there is snow if the forecast, if your kids have specific all mountain skis it would be good for them to be available.

Saturday 12/22 and Sunday 12/23 will be the same, meet at 8:45 above the ski racks in front of the main lodge.

The Post Christmas Camp is Scheduled For
Thursday 12/27
Friday 12/28
Saturday 12/29
Sunday 12/30
Monday 12/31 only 1/2 day

We will be making plenty of time for free skiing as well as training during this time so stay tuned for what skis will be needed following Christmas.
